Standard test for detecting of Helicobacter pylori in tissue samples. Principle of the test is to divide urease in the test medium by activity of urease in the Helicobacter pylori. Combined with cleavage of ammonia pH increases and causes a discolouration of the phenol red indicator in the test medium from yellow into pinkish/red.
